Community: April Volunteer Month

We finished up our volunteer hours Wednesday with a second trip to the Boys and Girls Club of Lenoir City. And might I add… How fun!!

The kids had plenty to talk about since they were in the midst of TCAPs this past week. I remember this test as a child, and I always dreaded its arrival. However, the majority of these kids enjoyed TCAP week because to them it meant extra recess, fun movies, special treats, and a FULL week without homework. For that, they were grateful.

Since there was no homework to help with on Wednesday, we were able to help the kids blow off some steam and take out any test anxiety on building the coolest Lego forts I’ve ever seen! We were playing volleyball, dressing up dolls, and we even played a musical hula hoop game. We had a blast, again! And it didn’t surprise me, those kids are awesome.

We  made some friends over the two visits. It is always interesting to get to know what children are thinking about because they are so young and innocent. Those children have made our time worthwhile, and we hope they’ve enjoyed our company as well. We will be seeing more of the Boys and Girls Club in July (if not sooner)!
